Caravan – Kings Cross

Caravan is a great place to go for brunch. They always have good coffee, and a variety of options for food that you’d rarely find anywhere else. On this particular Sunday I went with a couple of friends for a pre-Christmas catchup.

Caravan located at Kings Cross is located in a massive warehouse type of space. It does have a mixed vibe, with Industrial furnishings mixed with comfy couches. The lampshades caught my friends eye, which I think he would have happily stolen for his flat if given the chance. While the space is big, you don’t get that awkward empty feeling, as it is buzzing with life. Even the waiters are a bit chatty. The girl serving our table even had a bid of a nosey into the gift exchange. Maybe she was jealous of my awesome gifts.

You’re never short of options when it comes to the menu, however this does mean I run the risk of suffering with food envy (which I am sure I will mention in the Blog again). I usually stick with the first thing that catches my eye, which in this case was the Poached eggs with aubergine puree. I’d never heard of such a combination, and was admittedly intrigued. Even with the additional soutsouki sausage, I couldn’t help but feel the meal was lacking something else, even if not for a bit of extra colour. The whole plate seemed to be a mixture of greys and browns. I shouldn’t complain, it tasted amazing, and I was left feeling satisfied. Both my friends, who ordered the Caravan Fry and the Baked eggs were satisfied, but I have to admit, I did suffer a little bit of food envy.

The staff are friendly and up for a chat, if you are, without intruding too much. Our waitress was even asking for advice on Christmas presents for her friends.

Caravan is a great place to keep up your sleeve, to take friends or dates, for food or even just to grab a coffee.
